Nevisel for Windows and Mac

The writing instrument.

Write it once, type it anywhere.

Save a phrase once, give it a short binding like ;sig, and Nevisel types the whole thing for you, in every app. Your snippets and notes stay on your computer.

No account, no credit card. Windows 10/11 and macOS 13 or later.

How it works

  1. 01

    Write it once

Your signature, an address, the paragraph you send every day. Multiline and Unicode are fine.

  2. 02

    Give it a binding

A short trigger such as ;addr. Nevisel warns you if it is already taken.

  3. 03

    Type it anywhere

Email, chat, the browser, Word, your company's tools. Type the binding and a space, and the phrase appears.

Nevisel is for people whose work is words: the signature, the determination, the appeal paragraph you have written a hundred times. It keeps that wording in one place, types it wherever you are, and never sends it anywhere.

One instrument, four surfaces.

Everything you type twice, typed once, and everything you think through, kept together.

Snippets

Your wording, one binding away.

Phrases fill themselves in: {{date}} in the format you choose, {{clipboard}} what you just copied, {{cursor}} where you will keep typing. Search every snippet by any word, star the ones you use most, and keep expanding with the window closed.

The Nevisel window: snippets with bindings like ;rpt, ;sig and ;mtg, and the snippet editor showing Meeting follow-up.

Notes and Atlas

A private desk for your thinking.

Write in Markdown with a live preview. Connect notes with #tags and [[links]], and Atlas draws the map: notes, tags, and the notes you have linked to but not written yet. Export any note as a typeset PDF, and lock the desk with a secret phrase.

Atlas: a map of notes such as Weekly planning and Reading list, joined to tags like #planning and to notes not written yet.

Organization library

One approved wording for the whole team.

On Windows, publish shared phrases from your own SQL Server. Everyone gets the same approved text, it keeps working offline, only the editors your IT team names can change it, and every change writes an audit row. For organizations

The Enterprise Library: a read-only shared snippet, Prior authorization approved, synced from the organization's server.

AI assistants

Your assistant uses your wording, on your terms.

Claude and other assistants that speak MCP can find and fill in your snippets through nevisel-mcp, which runs on your computer. It is read-only unless you allow writes, and Clinical, shared and disabled snippets are never shown to it.

Careful by default.

A note refused because line 5 looks like a Social Security number.

Keeps identifiers out

Nevisel refuses snippets, shared phrases and notes that look like a Social Security number, a date of birth or a record number, and names the line to fix. A guard rail, not a guarantee: it cannot recognise names.

The writing check under a snippet, listing a spelling and two grammar suggestions with one-click fixes.

Spelling and grammar, on your computer

Every phrase and note is checked as you write, with one-click fixes and a personal dictionary. Nothing is sent to a checking service.

Made for every keyboard user

Every control works from the keyboard, text scales to 250%, and screen readers get labels and live status. Nevisel targets WCAG 2.1 AA.

Fast and light

A binding is recognised in nanoseconds, the window opens in under half a second, and searching ten thousand snippets takes milliseconds.

Built for people who write the same things all day.

Prior authorizations, determinations, appeals, replies to customers. The wording matters, and it repeats.

Utilization review nurses

Pend, approve, escalate.

Keep the pend notice, the turnaround reminders and the escalation summary one binding away, word for word every time.

;stdrem Standard request follow-up for Case 2026-UM-0412. Our standard turnaround time is 5 business days…

Medical directors

Document every call the same way.

Peer-to-peer notes, partial approvals and requests for information, in the structure your reviewers expect, with your own checklists in Notes.

;p2p Peer-to-peer call conducted on {{date}} regarding Case 2026-UM-0412…

Appeals and legal teams

The required paragraph, every time.

Appeal rights, external review language and appeal letter openings, approved once in the organization library and used by everyone.

;requestdoc To thoroughly understand the basis of this denial, we formally request a complete copy of the claim file…

Everyone else

Signatures, addresses, replies.

Support replies, meeting follow-ups, the office address, the link you paste ten times a day. If you type it twice, it belongs in Nevisel.

;sig Best regards, Jordan Lee…

Two desks, one instrument.

We gave synthetic professionals their own sandbox copy of Nevisel and let each build the library they would keep. Here are two of them, on opposite sides of prior authorization.

Maren Lindqvist, RN

Prior authorization nurse reviewer · Bayside Community Health Plan

8 snippets · 7 notes

She types ;stdrem and a space in the provider portal

A provider portal message. Typing ;stdrem and a space becomes: Standard request follow-up for Case 2026-UM-0412. Our standard turnaround time is 5 business days. Please provide the outstanding clinical documentation at your earliest convenience to keep the review process moving.

From her notes

Shift handoffs must be concise and actionable. No lengthy narratives: just the status, the next step, and the urgency level. … I also need to develop a standardized template for these handoffs, which I'll work on after finalizing the [[Intake Screening Workflow Refinement]].

She filed her pend and approval notices under Clinical, so AI assistants connected to Nevisel never see them.

Priya Chen, Esq.

Appeals attorney for provider groups · Chen & Albright LLP

8 snippets · 6 notes

She asks her assistant, which fills in ;appealopen through Nevisel

An assistant connected to Nevisel. Asked for the appeal opener for Bayside's October 3 denial of ambulatory surgery, it fills in her snippet: We are formally appealing the denial of services for Case 2026-UM-0412, which was denied by Bayside Community Health Plan on 10/03/2026. The services in question, Ambulatory Surgery, were rendered by Seacliff Surgery Center on 09/18/2026.

From her notes

Prior authorization denial for MRI. Payer cited 'lack of clear indication.' We are preparing a detailed clinical justification memo, leveraging the 'failure of conservative management' template derived from [[Common Denial Themes: Imaging & Surgery]].

Through nevisel-mcp the assistant fills each blank only from the choices in her library, and says when one is still open.

The people, organizations and case numbers are fictional. The animations re-enact what their sandbox libraries produced: the phrase text is exactly what Nevisel typed and rendered, organization names were replaced with fictional ones, and the notes are trimmed.

For organizations

One wording, everyone.

A shared library from your own SQL Server on Windows, editors your IT team names, an audit row for every change.

See how it works

It stays on your computer.

  • No telemetry. Nevisel never reports what you type, which apps you use, or how often.
  • Expansion never touches the network. Snippets live in a local database; the keyboard hook only ever talks to your own computer.
  • Licenses are checked offline. Your key is verified on your computer with a digital signature. There is no activation server.
  • Encrypted notes, if you want them. Argon2id and XChaCha20-Poly1305 protect a locked desk. Not even Causalytics can open it without your secret phrase or recovery key.

Nevisel is a writing tool, not a system of record. Follow your organization's rules for personal and confidential information. Read the privacy notice.

Questions.

What happens when the trial or my license ends?

Expansion and shared-library sync pause until you enter a key. Nothing is deleted or locked away: you can still open, edit and export every snippet and note. A license runs 12 months from its issue date, with 45 days of grace to renew.

Does Nevisel work offline?

Yes. Expansion, notes, search and license checks all run on your computer. Only the optional shared library talks to your organization's server, and it keeps working from its local copy when that server is out of reach.

Does Nevisel send my writing to an AI service?

No. Nevisel itself never contacts a network service while you type. If you choose to connect an AI assistant, the assistant reads only the snippets it asks for through nevisel-mcp, and whatever it reads goes to that assistant's provider. Clinical, shared and disabled snippets are never shown to it.

Can I keep personal or confidential information in Nevisel?

Your snippets and notes stay on your computer, and you can lock your notes with a secret phrase. Nevisel refuses identifiers it can recognise (Social Security numbers, dates of birth, record numbers), but it cannot recognise names. If your work involves patients, clients or customers, follow your organization's rules on where their information may be stored.

Why does my Mac warn me the first time?

The Windows build is signed by Causalytics. The Mac build is not yet notarized by Apple, so the first time you open it, right-click Nevisel and choose Open. macOS then asks for Accessibility permission, which Nevisel needs to see and replace keystrokes. The download page walks you through it.

Can I move my snippets between computers?

Export your library to a file and import it on the other computer. Notes are ordinary Markdown files, and "Save all notes as files" copies them anywhere you like.
